SACKLER GALLERY

A Juried Exhibition of Emerging Artists with Disabilities

On view are works by 15 award-winning emerging artists with disabilities, ages 16 to 25. Their work reflects their experiences as emerging artists and reveals how their disability has motivated, shaped, and transformed their lives.

Age 23
Emil Eifler began creating works of art in 2006 when she experienced an increase in symptoms due to a complex neurological desorder. Seeking a way to objectively analyze her circumstances, in her art she made models of illness that "doctors could not see"... Eifler characterizes her crochet sculpture Pili as a method of "exerting control over things that cannot be controlled."
